UEFI has feature called safe boot which adds extra layer of security to loader and it prevent booting from external sources like bootable USB Drive or CD. Therefore even you make Bootable flashdrive or CD it won't show up on boot menu or booting process.

I'm trying to install the Windows 10 Beta on a Dell Venue from a flash drive.Using Diskpart, I selected the flash drive, did CLEAN, created a primary partition, made it active, formatted it using FAT32, and then ASSIGN per.I then copied the contents of the Windows 10 Beta ISO to the flash drive.With the flash drive attached to the Dell, I attempted to boot from the flash drive. Tried rebooting by powering off the tablet and then powering it up. The tablet booted to the installed Windows 8.1 operating system. I also tried rebootingby going to Settings, Change PC Settings, Update and Recovery and selecting the flash drive. The tablet still booted to Windows 8.1.
Ugh.I've tried this using both a PNY 8GB and a PNY 32GB flash drives.Anyone have any suggestions or ideas?Richard. Thanks for all the responses! I found the issue.Under Windows 8.1, when I go to Control Panel, System it shows the processor to be an Atom Z3740D and that the system type is a x64-based processor. So, I've been trying to install the 64-bit version of the Windows 10 beta. I did noticed thatthe 32-bit version of Windows 8.1 was installed.
So I tried using the 32-bit version of the Windows 10 beta, and lo and behold, the installation program booted up.I checked the specs for the processor on Intel's website. It reports that the Z3740D supports the 64-bit instruction set. Does anyone happen to have any ideas as to why the 64-bit version of the OS won't boot?I looked at the BIOS settings and I didn't see anything that might indicate that the processor was being blocked from running a 64-bit OS.Richard. HiMy computer has bricked today and I have tried to repair the system files using a bootable USB.Unfortunately when I boot from the USB it shows the blue windows logo and the little loading circle but after a few minutes the screen goes completely black. I've tried booting from all available drives and it results in a similar dead end (only differencebeing the mobo logo instead of the windows logo).The only error I have received is that my boot volume is unmountable/corrupt but as I can't boot from the USB to repair it I'm at a dead end.I have had this computer running for about a year now and I have the OS on a SSD and a HDD for storage.Relevant PC details:CPU: i7-4970kMOBO: ASUS Z97 pro gamer ATXSSD: 240GB Neutron XTi SSDPS. I'm not too bothered with loosing the data on the SSD so any help would be greatly appreciated.EDIT: The closest I have got so far is to a recovery page that gives me the error:file:windowssystem32winload.efi couldn't load. Start your System, then just after the Manufacturers logo disappears and Windows 10 tries to boot, press and hold the power button down for 5 - 10 seconds to perform a hard shut downDo this TwiceOn the third boot attempt, Windows will boot into the Windows 10 Repair Environment, from there you can access Startup Recovery, Safe Mode, Command Prompt. Yeah after making a new one and testing it on another machine it still failed to boot into the recovery or reinstall windows screen.I've since then taken the SSD out and put it into a laptop which did show the recovery window but it failed on all the restores etc. And even failed to properly format the SSD and create the appropriate volumes when I chose to do a complete reinstall.It seems that the SSD is probably not the only thing that has something wrong with it but is there anything that comes to mind that would cause the SSD to react in such a way?Thanks. When booting from your USB, please make sure that the USB is also prioritized in the BIOS. Since there are times that USB drive does not appear in the list as a boot device, it is best to plug in yourUSB device in the USB port before starting the PC and accessing the BIOS screen. To access the BIOS, you need to restart your computer and press a specific key or better yet refer to your computer model's manual since different models have different way ofgetting into the BIOS screen.We're here for any feedback.Regards. I'm sorry but it seems I have not made it clear and so I will specify.I have had the USB in a motherboard USB port and I have always made it prioritised when trying to repair or reinstall.Note that in my previous reply I wrote that I had been able to boot into the USB from another device but not on the original machine. The original would boot into it but when the windows logo disappeared (after a minute of loading) it would change to a blackscreen (Which maintained a signal to the monitor) for over 12 hours.
This is the main problem I'm trying to figure out.I hope this is clearer,Cheers.
